Promise Emmanuel is a PhD Student in Global Family Health and Wellbeing and a Master's student in Child, Youth and Family Studies. A lover of technological solutions, Promise aims to bridge the gap between technology and public health. Her particular interests in women's health and healthcare accessibility have inspired her research direction towards the utilization of telehealth by women in Nigeria. She intends to use a mixed methods research approach to examine the possible impacts of telehealth for facilitating women's access to sexual, reproductive, and mental healthcare and for eliminating other barriers in accessing healthcare that abound in developing countries and among minority and underserved populations.

At other times when Promise is not immersed in the rigors of learning and research, you are very likely to find her reading, writing, crocheting, or volunteering at community-focused programs.

Why CYAF at University of Nebraska-Lincoln

"What drew me first to the GFHWB program at UNL was the opportunity for telehealth research. I figured if I would dwell heavily on a research subject like telehealth that is not so often talked about, finding a program that offers active research expertise on the subject would be highly beneficial. The GFHWB program and the CYAF department at large also offers immense opportunities for global collaboration and community-based research, with extensive research on various health and human science subjects, allowing me the opportunity to explore my diverse research interests, from community engagement and research methods to human behavior and public health."
