CYAF Statement on Racial Injustices

The recent acts of violence we have witnessed with the killing of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor (and many others over the years) has highlighted once again the continuing inequalities and systemic oppression faced by Black people in our country. These acts of police and community brutality is a striking demonstration of the legacy of anti-Blackness that has permeated our society over centuries, and is unacceptable in any form. It also emphasizes that we as a society and as individuals have not done enough to address racism, and as such have contributed to racism.

Leow aligns therapists to offer free mental health supports

In adjusting to the new normal of a world impacted by COVID-19, many Nebraskans are in need of resources to help cope with stress. Yet, while mental health help is needed, cost barriers and stigmas keep many from reaching out for assistance

Husker Cassandra Leow, a doctoral candidate studying global family health and wellbeing, wants to change that.

Using her connections to mental health practitioners, Leow organized a group of more than 40 therapists to offer free mental health support for anyone who may be struggling.
