Adrienne Pitt, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, joined the Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as a lecturer and clinical supervisor in August 2019, and was promoted to assistant professor of practice in July 2021. She teaches courses on clinical methods and language disorders 5-21.

Adrienne's clinical and research interests include developing assessment and intervention techniques to enhance verbal and augmentative communication for individuals with minimal verbal skills, including individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. More specifically, she is interested in differences in how individuals with autism perceive visual stimuli (e.g. pictures, objects, line drawings) and aims to develop guidelines for selecting optimal visual stimuli for individuals with autism to promote enhanced communication.

After completing her bachelor's in exercise science and master's in speech language pathology at the University of South Carolina, Adrienne spent three years as a speech-language pathologist in North Carolina and Texas. She then entered the doctoral program in speech-language hearing at the University of Kansas, a degree she completed in 2020.
