Taylor Bryant, PhD, CCC-SLP, is the director of the Language, Literacy, and Emotional Outcomes (LEO) Lab. She is a speech-language pathologist and educational researcher whose work examines how children’s language and literacy skills relate to their learning, as well as their emotional functioning, experiences, and well-being. Her research interests stem from her past clinical experiences working with children with developmental language disorder and/or dyslexia: many of the children on her caseload showed negative emotions (e.g., anxiety) about the prospect of reading. Because of this, Dr. Bryant's research focuses on children with developmental language disorder and/or dyslexia, with the goal of identifying effective instructional practices that improve language and literacy skills while supporting their mental health.
Before joining the Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders, Dr. Bryant completed her doctoral training in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of South Carolina. She enjoys arts and crafts and practicing yoga in her spare time.
