Ph.D. Program Teaching, Curriculum and Learning

Brendan Kachnowski is originally from the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois but now calls Rock Springs, Wyoming “home.” Being both Queer and Latino, he centers work on social justice/CRT, multilingualism, and understanding the LGBTQIA+ community within the context of the field of Education using Queer pedagogy/theory. Brendan served as Hastings College’s head DEIB Coordinator during the 2023-2024 academic year focusing on student retention, enrollment, and diversifying events on campus. Moreover, he is a proud community college graduate receiving education from Northwest College (A.A.) and Hastings College (B.A., M.A.T.). During his PhD, Brendan is focusing research on the intersectionality of Queerness and Multilingualism; finding how students navigate their identities, as they also navigate language. You can find Brendan on LinkedIn or by email at BKachnowski2@unl.edu
