Travel Resources

Here are some resources we have put together to help make your travel more pleasant.

Lincoln Travel Guides

  • Discover & Explore Lincoln: Some attractions, fun places to visit, good places to eat, and so on recommended with extreme prejudice by Koichi.
  • Lincoln Travel Guide by Kayak: Quick information about what to do; when to visit; how to get there; where to stay; getting around; local costs; and where to eat.

Parking

Free parking is hard to come by on and around the UNL City Campus. Most of the "secret free spots" have been removed. All City Campus parking lots require a permit, so visitors must use metered parking. On Saturdays, the City Campus meters are enforced 7:00 am - 12:00 pm and the City meters are enforced 7:00 am - 6:00 pm. Also, some parking lots and garages set the daily max at $5.00 (see the rates for all parking areas here).

UNL and the City of Lincoln offer Passport Parking, a pay-by-cell service at designated parking spaces. With Passport, users securely pay for meter parkig with a smartphone app. Users receive reminders and can add time to their meter from anywhere with a smartphone app or on the web.

Public Transportations

If you need to use a public transportation within Lincoln and between cities, here are some options.

  • StarTran Bus Service: Cash fare is $1.75.  There are apps for real-tie bus tracking and purchasing StarTran passes.
  • Nebraska Transit website: Here are some lists of inter-city transportation services. If you don't want to drive to Lincoln, this may be a possibility.
