Admission Status

The Special Education Graduate Governance Committee reviews all applications for the Master's Degree twice each year, with application deadlines of January 15 and May 1. The Committee determines the admision status of applicants, based on a review of GPA, Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores (thesis option only), letters of recommendation, and applicant's letter of intent.

Applicants are accepted as a degree candidate with "Full Graduate Standing", or granted "Provisional Admission" pending satisfactory completion of nine graduate credits from UNL Special Education courses with a 3.0 GPA in each course; additional requirements are possible. Once these specified requirements have been met, the candidate's academic status is changed to "Full Graduate Standing" in the degree program. The academic status level is specified in the student's decision letter, sent electronically by the Office of Graduate Studies.
