Allison Reisbig's Retirement Reception is May 13th

Allison M. J. Reisbig is retiring after over 12 years of service to the University in the Department of Child, Youth and Family Studies. Dr. Reisbig is an Associate Professor in Marriage and Family Therapy and Family Science, Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), AAMFT-Approved Supervisor, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Her retirement comes after suffering a traumatic brain injury from a car accident in 2015.

Gilmore Honored with CEHS Staff Star Award

Jenny Gilmore, Financial Coordinator for the College of Education and Human Sciences, is the most recent recipient of the Staff Star Award.

Her nominator said that Jenny brings an auditor's perspective to the CEHS business team. "She thinks about processes and procedures in a way that many do not, and can identify policy and process improvements. She does a fantastic job in asking the right questions at the right time so that college or university leadership fully think through the impact of policies or procedures."

No Small Matter is built from stories of real children, families, and teachers, illustrating the impact of high-quality early childhood experiences. We meet parents who are struggling to do their best for their kids, incredible teachers who model what early childhood classrooms should and could be like, and children learning and developing in real time. Identifying immigrant families’ health issues through Census data

Although studies reveal that immigrants and ethnic minorities are among those at greatest risk for poor health outcomes, little research exists on rural immigrants who experience a disproportionate burden of poverty and economic hardship.

Evan Choi, associate professor of child, youth and family studies, is using restricted-access versions of U.S. Census Bureau data to examine rural, low-income immigrant families and their health-related behaviors — and how they relate to their children’s health and developmental outcomes.

IANR Leadership Team Visits Ruth Staples Child Development Laboratory

As a kick off to Charter Week, IANR Leaderhsip visited the Ruth Staples Child Development Laboratory.  They brought each child In Our Grit, Our Glory Nebraska t-shirts. Also, on behalf of  the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, CASNR,  and the College of Education and Human Sciences , CEHS, each child received a $500 scholarship! 

"We are honored and thankful for this generous gift and very much enjoyed the t-shirt and ice cream party!" said Jenny Leeper Miller, CDL Director.
