Summer Travelogue Series-Republic of Congo

The last presentation in the Summer Travelogue series was on Monday, August 12 with Philippe Siassia, CEHS Technology Support Associate on east campus! He shared about living in the Republic of Congo, and finished his presentation with a guitar performance of one of his original songs.

Maria de Guzman, Jill Brown, and Carolyn Edwards chosen as the recipient of the 2019 Ursula Gielen Global Psychology Book Award!

The book Parenting From Afar and the Reconfiguration of Family Across Distance authored by Maria de Guzman, Jill Brown, and Carolyn Edwards has been chosen as the recipient of the 2019 Ursula Gielen Global Psychology Book Award! This award is given every year by the International Psychology Division (52) of the American Psychological Association to the authors of the book that makes the most significant contribution to psychology as a global discipline.

Congratulations for this well-deserved recognition on your hard work!

Young flood survivors heal through reading

Project helps young flood survivors heal through reading

A new project at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln is helping young flood survivors heal — page by page, story by story.
Led by Nebraska Extension, Read for Resilience will offer free storybooks with themes of coping with trauma, loss, grief and stress to children across the state. The project is part of the University of Nebraska's flood recovery serviceship program.
Read for Resilience books will be available online to parents, teachers and caregivers starting July 16. There is no deadline to apply.

Teachers Scholars Academy

40 students selected to participate in Teachers Scholars Academy

Forty recent high-school graduates have been selected to join the Teachers Scholars Academy in CEHS at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln this upcoming fall semester. The academy was created in order to grow the teaching workforce in the state of Nebraska and address the future teacher shortage. These students will mark the inaugural cohort of the academy thanks to a generous donation from the William and Ruth Scott Family Foundation.

Midwest Universities for Global Health Conference

Better Together 6.0, the Midwest Universities for Global Health (MUGH) conference, September 13 and 14, 2019 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison


UW-Madison will host the 2019 Midwest Universities for Global Health conference from 13-14 September 2019. This would be a good conference and networking opportunity for students interested in health/global health. Abstract submission deadline is: August 9, 2019. Located in Madison, WI with registration at $20 for students.
