Xia receives prestigious Fulbright award

Yan Ruth Xia, Professor in the Department of Child, Youth and Family Studies (CYAF), has received a 2018-2019 Fulbright Distinguished Chair Award. The award provides a grant that will allow Xia to do both research and teaching in China during the fall and spring semesters of 2018-2019.

The legacy of Carolyn Edwards

Carolyn Pope Edwards, Ed. D., passed away on May 31st. Edwards was passionate about learning, exploring innovation, and collaboration. She leaves behind a legacy of ardent creative learning with the colleagues and students whose lives she touched, on the field of early childhood education, and with the Department of Child, Youth, and Family Studies.

CEHS and Malone Center begin partnership to support children and families

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s College of Education and Human Sciences (CEHS) is partnering with the Clyde Malone Community Center in Lincoln to provide a mutually beneficial opportunity for the successful development of children and families at the Malone Center and opportunities for practical experience for CEHS students. Malone Center Executive Director Kimberly Goins and CEHS Interim Dean Beth Doll signed a letter of agreement May 16 at a brief ceremony. The initial agreement is for five years.

Victoria Molfese retiring from UNL

Molfese leaving a legacy of learning

Victoria Molfese, Chancellor Professor and Co-Director of the Early Development and Learning Lab, is retiring from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Molfese is nationally recognized as an expert in the development of language, reading, and math skills during early childhood. Her research at the university has focused mostly on how sleep influences behavior and learning and teacher/child relationships and the way these can affect performance.

CYAF family financial planning degree top ranked

The family financial planning online master’s degree offered through the Department of Child, Youth and Family Studies and Great Plains IDEA, has been ranked No. 1 nationally by Top Accounting Degrees. The ranking was based in part on student/faculty ratio, average graduate tuition rate, flexible course offerings, affiliation with professional certification, and online student resources such as advising and tech support.
