Emergentics workshop October 7, 2011

The Department of Child, Youth and Family Studies and the College of Education and Human Sciences are pleased to host  “A Meeting of the Minds” seminar based on Emergenetics®. Our presenter is Dr. Geil Browning who is CEO and Owner of Emergenetics and uses her brain-based teaching philosophy to help educators and parents understand how elementary- and high school-aged children learn.

Department of Defense teams with CEHS to help military families

On Wednesday, March 9, UNL Extension formally announced that the Division has been tapped by the U.S. Department of Defense to develop content and provide educational programming for children of military families who live off-base. Tonia Durden, Assistant Professor, Child, Youth & Family Studies Department, and Kathleen Lodl, Assistant Dean, Cooperative Extension Division, will lead the project.

King recieves Silver Pen Award

The Silver Pen Award honors two office/service employees who have demonstrated superior performance while employed at UNL and who have made significant contributions to the University community. The award was established in UNOPA’s Silver Anniversary year and, as a pen is common to UNL personnel; it was named the Silver Pen Award. It is funded by the Floyd S. Oldt endowment. Each recipient receives a $600 cash award, an engraved A.T. Cross Silver Pen, a framed certificate, and a one-year UNOPA membership.

Julie Johnson, CYAF, honored with Floyd S. Oldt Boss of the Year award

Julie Johnson, chair of CYAF, has been presented with the the Floyd S. Oldt Boss of the Year Award. The award recognizes a UNL employee who has demonstrated excellence in personnel management, outstanding skills in employee supervision, and excellent interpersonal relations. Jonhson was awarded an engraved plaque and stipend, as well as a one-year UNOPA membership.
