Dr. Kang's research is in marketing and information technology in tourism. Specifically, she focuses on designing and managing experiencescapes in travel destinations and understanding how emerging mobile information technologies and social media can support the creation and management of social and emotional experiences for tourists.

Dr. Kang also researches organizational adoption and the use of information technologies to effectively communicate and market experiential aspects and evaluate technology-mediated tourist experiences in terms of mindfulness, emotions, and social presence.
