Anna Mae Brenner
Anna Mae Brenner, 76, Manhattan, died Sunday at Mercy Health Center of Manhattan.
She was born July 9, 1922 in Culver, and received her masters from Kansas State University. She was a teacher in junior and senior high schools in Paola and Culver and a professor in food services and nutrition at the University of Kentucky, Purdue University, University of Wyoming and University of Nebraska, Lincoln. Dr. Brenner had also worked for the state of Kansas as a dietician for Larned State Hospital and Osawatomie State Hospital.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Christian Women, League of Women Voters, Kaw Valley Dietetics Association, Kansas Nutrition Council, American Dietetics Association and she volunteered for Welcome Wagon.
Survivors include two sisters, Frances Ellis, Manhattan, and Lois Bearnes, Culver, two brothers Willis F. Brenner Jr, Jonesboro, Ark, and Harold Brenner, Wichita; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Culver Union Cemetery in Culver. Memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church or American Diabetes Association.
