CH 2: Section 12 - Bloodborne Pathogen Training and Exposure Plan

As athletic training students, individuals face a small yet tangible health risk due to frequent contact with patients potentially carrying infectious diseases, including bloodborne pathogens.

The UNL Athletic Training Program (UNL ATP) follows the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Environmental Health and Safety Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan (online at: go.unl.edu/k672) at all UNL ATP and Lincoln Southwest High School clinical education sites.

Students assigned to and attending clinical education sites at Concordia University (CUNE) will adhere to CUNE’s Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan (online at: go.unl.edu/bwrf).

Both documents align with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standard, Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens (29CFR 1910.1030): (online at: go.unl.edu/08tc).

Students enrolled in the UNL ATP are required to complete a University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL)-sponsored Bloodborne Pathogen Training Course annually.
