Athletic training students (ATS) are expected to comply with the policies and procedures of the UNL Athletic Training Program (UNL ATP) and clinical education sites. Infractions (Appendix F) will be issued for violations, and consequences will escalate based on the severity and recurrence, as follows:
First Infraction
A formal Infraction report form will be issued by the preceptor or a UNL ATP faculty member, filed with the program director’s office, and placed in the student’s permanent file on Typhon using the Infraction Report Form.
Second Infraction
After a second violation of the same or a related infraction, an additional formal Infraction Report Form will be completed by the preceptor or a faculty member of the UNL ATP. This report will be filed with the program director’s office and added to the student’s permanent record on Typhon.
Third Infraction
Following the third violation of the same related infraction, a hearing will be scheduled with the UNL Athletic Training Program Disciplinary Panel to determine the appropriate penalty, which may include:
- Temporary suspension from the current clinical education assignment with a written improvement plan outlining the reason for suspension, its duration, and conditions to return to good standing.
- Removal from the current clinical education assignment, with the student placed on probation. See the UNL ATP Probation Policy for details.
- Termination from the UNL ATP or the University. If warranted, the UNL ATP Termination Policy will be applied.
The UNL Athletic Training Program Disciplinary Panel will be composed of:
- University of Nebraska-Lincoln athletic training faculty
- University of Nebraska-Lincoln associate athletic director of athletic medicine
- Additional members appointed by the UNL ATP program director, as needed.
