The use of drugs or alcohol during clinical education is strictly prohibited.
First Incident
In the event a preceptor suspects an athletic training student (ATS) is under the influence of drugs or alcohol:
- The ATS will be dismissed for the day.
- An infraction report will be filed and a copy placed in the ATS's permanent file with the UNL Athletic Training Program.
- The ATS will be referred to University Counseling Services.
- The ATS will be suspended from the clinical education program until verification of the successful completion of an alcohol and drug counseling program can be provided.
- Suspension from the clinical education program to complete an alcohol and drug counseling program may result in a delay in program progression. In such cases, a return-to-study plan will be developed between the program director and the student.
Second Incident
A second offense will result in immediate dismissal from the UNL Athletic Training Program.
