Important reminders from UNL Parking & Transit regarding pre-paid, 1 day only departmental parking permits:
- Permits may be used to park in non-reserved areas marked Area A or Area C on UNL City Campus or UNL East Campus.
- Permits are not valid in metered parking stalls. Those choosing to park in a metered stall will be responsible for paying the meter.
- Permits are valid for 1 day only, per the date specified on the permit. (If a permit is required for more than one day, click here.)

Permits can be issued to:
- Unaffiliated guest speakers for an academic course
- Unaffiliated guests
- Small groups of 4 or less in a single vehicle
Permits cannot be issued to:
- University of Nebraska affiliates - these include:
- University of Nebraska-Lincoln
- University of Nebraska-Omaha
- University of Nebraska-Kearney
- University of Nebraska Medical Center
- Vendors
- Currently enrolled students
- Faculty or staff members
- Employees (full-time/part-time/temporary/seasonal)
Falsification of misrepresentation will result in a $50 Misuse of Permit citation to the permit holder from UNL Parking & Transit.
Permits cannot be issued for:
- Meetings
- Seminars
- Conferences
- Symposiums
- Workshops
Professional gatherings/meetings which are open to the public are considered Special Events and not eligible for a departmental guest permit.
Alternative Visitor Parking Options
Visitors may purchase their own parking permits directly through the university's online parking system as an alternative to departmental pre-paid permits. This self-service option allows visitors to select appropriate parking locations and durations based on their specific needs.
