Dr. Dimitrios Tsoukas, M.D., M.Sc.
The UNL Athletic Training Program is excited to provide UNL Athletic Training Students the opportunity to experience an international, interprofessional educational experience as part of their educational journey. As an adjunct instructor for the UNL Athletic Training Program, Dr. Tsoukas will provide annual video lectures with Q and A sessions as a part of the Medical Aspects of Athletic Training Course. Along with Athletic Training Director Dr. Dennis Perkey, students who travel to Greece as part of the Greek Influence on Nutrition and Sports Medicine Study Abroad Program will have the opportunity to meet with Dr. Tsoukas and experience a live lecture as part of the study abroad curriculum.
Dr. Tsoukas is a Sports Orthopedic Surgeon from Athens, Greece and Director of the Minimally Invasive Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Surgery Clinic at the Athens Medical Center in Athens, Greece. He is an internationally published author, a regularly invited speaker at international sports medicine conferences, a member of the Board of Sports Medicine Association of Greece, and an Editorial Board Member of the Orthopedic Research and Physiotherapy Journal.
Dr. Tsoukas has also served as the doctor-in-charge for the Greek National Male and Female Volleyball teams, the Greek Boxing Federation, and the AEK Greek Professional Basketball Team. His clinical research and surgical interests include the inflammatory response post-exercise, the use of PRP injections, and stem cells in the physically active with a focus on sport injury prevention.
