Biomedical and Obesity Research Core
The Biomedical and Obesity Research Core (BORC) provides research services for both internal and external users. Currently occupying 3,353 sq. ft. of laboratory space in Leverton Hall — with additional designated space in the animal facility at the Life Sciences Annex — the facility is positioned for continued growth, with UNL having committed an additional 507 sq. ft. on the same floor for future expansion.
Staffed by Ph.D.-level professionals, the facility offers a broad range of services including molecular biology, mouse and human imaging, phenotyping, proteomics and metabolomics, tissue archiving, and biostatistics consultation.
To meet the high-speed, large-capacity computational demands of both NPOD members and external users, the facility maintains a dedicated network connection to UNL's Holland Computing Center (HCC).
Beyond these service offerings, the facility also provides training sessions and actively supports research tool development programs designed to benefit research for multiple labs.
