Briscoe receives ACPA research award and grant

Kaleb Briscoe, a Ph.D. student in the Department of Educational Administration, has received a research award and a research grant from ACPA: College Student Educators International. The Nevitt Sanford Award for Research from ACPA’s Commission for Professional Preparation financially supports dissertations, theses, or specific research projects in student affairs. ACPA’s Commission for Student Involvement Research Grant encourages research and scholarship in student involvement and engagement.

International Seed Grant proposals due Dec. 18

Through a generous donor grant, CEHS has funds available to enhance instruction and research through attention to international work and issues. Proposals are being solicited from faculty and staff to support coursework that includes international perspectives, research/creative work that includes an international component, or professional development activities and environmental improvements that will promote our international goals.

Yao and Wilson recognized for EDAD Student Success Center

The Online Learning Consortium (OLC) announced this week that Brian Wilson, instructional design technology specialist, and Christina Yao, assistant professor of Educational Administration, are recipients of a 2017 OLC Effective Practice Award. The award recognizes effective techniques, strategies and practices that are shared by members of the OLC community to advance quality and access to online programs.

EDAD grad student honored by NASPA

Dallas Doane, a second-year student in the student affairs master’s degree cohort in the Department of Educational Administration, has been awarded the NASPA IV-West Rising Star award in the graduate student category for the state of Nebraska. Doane has served the College of Education and Human Sciences as a graduate assistant working with undergraduate recruitment and is currently working with the advising center. Doane also completed an internship in Nebraska’s First-Year Experience and Transition Program.

EDAD, NHS chairs announced

Dean Marjorie Kostelnik announced today the appointment of two department chairs in the College of Education and Human Sciences. After a national search, Nick Pace was selected chair of the Educational Administration Department (EDAD) and will begin his duties July 17. Linda Boeckner has been named interim chair of Nutrition and Health Sciences (NHS). Pace is currently professor and chair of Educational Leadership in the College of Education at the University of Northern Iowa.

Briscoe receives ACPA award

Educational Administration first-year doctoral student Kaleb Briscoe will be receiving the 2017 Commission for Student Involvement Outstanding Service to the Commission Award from the American College Personnel Association (ACPA). Briscoe serves as a graduate assistant in Student Involvement at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, working with the University Program Council. Her role includes overseeing operations and providing leadership development for executive board members.
