EDAD Faculty Explore Partnership Opportunities in China

Building relationships and exploring collaborations within a classroom is great. Doing the same across the globe is even better.

This past May, professors from the Educational Administration department at UNL spent a week in China visiting universities and building relationships with professors and other educators there.

Dr. Jean Haar Selected as Recipient of 2019 University of Nebraska-Lincoln Educational Administration Impact Award

Dr. Jean Haar, Dean of the College of Education at Minnesota State University-Mankato and a Ph.D. alum of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Department of Educational Administration, was recently awarded the Department’s Impact Award for her influence as an administrative leader.

The award, which is in its inaugural year, recognizes a distinguished alum of the Department who has made a significant impact in the field, communities, and organizations. Dean Haar’s professional work and accomplishments, since receipt of her doctoral degree in 2002 were the basis for her selection.

PhD Candidate Kaleb Briscoe Selected as Recipient of 2019 Educational Administration Inspiration Award

Kaleb Briscoe, a doctoral candidate in the Department of Educational Administration at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has been awarded the Department’s inaugural Inspiration Award. The award is presented annually to a student in an Educational Administration program to recognize academic contributions, intellectual curiosity, and scholarly achievements that inspire students, staff, and faculty.

Kaleb is currently a Graduate Research Assistant in the Department, assisting faculty with teaching, research, mentoring, and other duties.

One of the values CEHS espouses is dedication to excellence. Another is valuing community. On April 12 CEHS faculty/staff gathered at the Sheldon Museum of Art to salute this year's faculty, staff, and student award recipients in CEHS. Terry McTier Jr. joins Ohio University as Assistant Professor

Terry McTier Jr., an EDAD alum, was recently awarded the position of Assistant Professor at Ohio University starting next fall 2019.

McTier came to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to pursue a master’s in student affairs. The choice, however, was random. He said he decided on an institution by closing his eyes and picking one on a map, and Nebraska was his choice.

Dr. Hyde joins EDAD faculty as Associate Professor of Practice

Dr. Renee Hyde will be joining the Educational Administration Department faculty as an Associate Professor of Practice in August 2019.

Dr. Hyde is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for Papillion LaVista Community Schools.

Healthy Minds, Happy Students

EDAD hosted the 2019 Critical Issues Forum: Healthy Minds, Healthy Communities: Understanding and Addressing the Mental Health Needs of Students. This year, the event brought together more than 100 faculty, students, researchers, and practitioners for a day of sharing and learning.

EDAD’s Hatch-Tocaimaza receives emerging scholar award

Deryl Hatch-Tocaimaza, assistant professor in the Department of Educational Administration, was presented with the Barbara K. Townsend Emerging Scholar Award from the Council for the Study of Community Colleges (CSCC) April 27, 2018 at its annual meeting in Dallas, Texas.
