UNL offering interdisciplinary training program for graduate students in speech-language pathology, audiology and deaf education

The Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders (SECD) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is currently recruiting students for the first cohort of a new interprofessional training program, the Mid-Plains Professional Upgrade Partnership – Interdisciplinary Training in Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology and Deaf Education (MPUP-SPADE).

Audiology, speech-language pathology set dates for fall graduate open houses

The graduate programs in audiology and speech-language pathology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln have set the dates for three open house events for prospective students in Fall 2022. 

Students interested in Nebraska’s master’s program in speech-language pathology have two opportunities to learn about the program – a virtual open house from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, and an in-person open house from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11.

UNL-Tabitha Memory Workshop begins new session at Barkley Clinic Sept. 14

The Barkley Speech Language and Hearing Clinic is set to host another session of its eight-week memory workshop in collaboration with Tabitha Health Care, beginning Sept. 14. 

The weekly workshop is designed to help adults develop strategies to maintain sharp memories as they age. Originally started in 2014 for people with diagnosed memory loss, the workshop is open to adults concerned about and/or interested in learning more about memory and strategies to enhance their thinking skills.

Stan Vasa, professor emeritus in the Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders, is remembered for his mentorship of faculty and students alike during a storied career in special education. Vasa died July 17, 2022.
