CH 3: Section 11 - Monetary Remuneration Academic Policy

Athletic training students (ATS) at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL) are not considered employees of any department where they fulfill academic requirements for the UNL Athletic Training Program (UNL ATP). As such, ATS are not permitted to receive monetary compensation for services performed as part of their academic duties within the program.

It is a violation of program policy for ATS to receive any form of financial compensation for activities related to the UNL ATP while enrolled in the program. This includes, but is not limited to, receiving payment for athletic training services provided as part of academic coursework.

However, scholarships or fellowships awarded to ATS are not considered monetary compensation and do not violate this policy. Scholarship or fellowship funds are applied directly to the student's university account to cover academic expenses, such as tuition and fees.

Students will complete an annual agreement in Typhon indicating:

"By signing and printing my name below, I agree to the following:

  1. I have been given access to and agree to comply with the University of Nebraska- Lincoln Athletic Training Program Monetary Remuneration Academic Policy while enrolled as an athletic training student in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Athletic Training Program.
  2. I understand that if I violate this policy, I will receive disciplinary action that may include dismissal from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Athletic Training Program."
