Dr. Yiqi Yang's work with tiny nanoparticles and nanofilters made from a corn ethanol byproduct made the front page of the Lincoln Journal Star recently, evidence of a growing interest in nanoscience and a developing direction for Dr. Yang's fiber research. With the potential for revolutionary drug-delivery applications in cancer and other medical treatments, this research area is rich with possibilities, and Dr. Yang is one of the few textile engineers pushing aggressively in this area. Working with a team of graduate assistants and research scientists, including PhD student Jessie Jiang who was pictured with Dr. Yang, he is intensely focused on advancing research that is likely to bring added value to the processing of agricultural byproducts in the state of Nebraska. Dr. Yang is enthusiastic about the future of this research area and as funding increases he anticipates that it will open numerous as-yet-unanticipated doors to scientific discovery.
