Second Annual Aphasia Awareness Walk set for June 4

Speech-language pathology students in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders will host the Second Annual Aphasia Awareness Walk at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, on UNL’s East Campus.

Barlow earns $2.8 million grant for study to improve lives of extremely preterm infants

A grant of nearly $2.8 million awarded to University of Nebraska-Lincoln professor Steven Barlow will be used to study the link between the brain’s molecular pathways and the development of oral feeding skills in extremely preterm infants.

Speech-language pathology, special education students set for two-week trip to Costa Rica

Eight graduate and eight undergraduate students, along with four faculty members from the Department of Special Education and Communication Disorders will travel to Costa Rica for a pair of study abroad experiences May 14-28.

Savaiano awarded grant from Office of Special Education Programs

Dr. Mackenzie Savaiano, assistant professor of practice and coordinator of the graduate program in Visual Impairments, has been awarded a grant of more than $1 million from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs.

Fourth Annual Huskers for Hearing 5K slated for Saturday

The Student Academy of Audiology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will host the Fourth Annual Huskers for Hearing 5K Fun Run at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at UNL’s East Campus Loop.

Registration for the 5K costs $35 for individuals ages 8 and older. Children ages seven and under are free. Participants are welcome to register the morning of the 5K. In addition to the fun run, the event also includes a silent auction.
