The Institutional Review Board (IRB) oversees Human Research Protection Program (HRPP). Research staff, including graduate students, are required to complete CITI training, https://research.unl.edu/researchcompliance/required-human-subjects-training/, if they have direct contact with human participants, e.g., for subject recruitment, data collection, as well as those who have access to information that links research participants’ names with their data.

Research staff, including graduate students, who work with the non-identifiable data, e.g., data entry, data analysis, AND who have no contact with participants and no means of identifying participants or linking participants’ names to their data may not be required to complete CITI training. Work with your faculty advisor and Office of Human Subjects for any questions or concerns: https://research.unl.edu/researchcompliance/human-subjects-research/.
