CH 1: Section 1 - Program Description

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln has a proud history of more than 150 years of providing quality education and advancing the human sciences. In 2003, the College of Education and Human Sciences (CEHS) was established through a strategic and collaborative planning process that merged the College of Human Resources and Family Sciences with Teachers College. This new college created a strong foundation for interdisciplinary collaboration among seven departments, all dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals, families, schools, and communities.

Within CEHS, the Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences is home to the Athletic Training Program. On April 24, 2004, the program received initial accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). In 2006, accreditation was transferred to the newly formed Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE), where it remains today.
