Dr. Flothe’s primary role in the department is the success and teaching of first and second year students in foundational courses such as Introduction to Textile Science, Quality Garment Assembly, and Clothing & Society. In addition, Dr. Flothe develops and teaches courses in Fashion Communications and Material Culture. Her professional background includes retail management, personal styling, social work, and student success/advocacy. Areas of research interest include the scholarship of teaching and learning, and the impact of social, economic, political, and military events on the textile/apparel industry.
