Degree Completion

Below are the courses that the Department of Textiles, Merchandising and Fashion Design plans to offer from Summer 2026 through Spring 2028 terms to support current students’ degree completion pathways. These courses have been selected based on analysis of current students’ degree pathway needs.

Students should work closely with their Academic Advisor to select the necessary classes by term to complete the requirements for their major or minor in TMFD. Current TMFD majors will work with Hope Chavez, while those with a minor in TMFD will work with Cameya Ramirez-Rousseau.

As with any course schedule, adjustments may be needed if faculty expertise or student enrollment changes unexpectedly. Any changes will be published and communicated as quickly as possible; alternative courses will be identified to support students’ degree completion.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Academic Advising

Who is the primary contact for students to ensure TMFD courses are completed to satisfy degree requirements?
  • Current TMFD majors will work with their assigned Academic Advisor, Hope Chavez, to develop a customized plan to degree completion making sure required TMFD courses are completed. The Academic Advisor will also work with students to ensure students understand and plan for other degree requirements needed for degree completion. Students can make an appointment with Hope on Student Success Hub.
  • Current TMFD minors will work with CEHS Director of Advising, Cameya Ramirez-Rousseau, to develop a plan to meet course requirements for the declared TMFD minor. It will be important for students to prioritize completion of TMFD minor courses by Spring 2028 when planning for their other degree requirements with their assigned Academic Advisor for their major. Students can make an appointment with Cameya on Student Success Hub.
When can students register for their remaining TMFD courses?
  • Summer 2026 registration: March 2 through the Sunday prior to the first day of classes. Registration for summer courses is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Fall 2026 registration: March 23 – Priority registration begins. Students should check MyRed for their specific day and time enrolling can begin.

* Registration holds incurred for financial, health requirements and/or academic reasons are placed on a student record to prevent registration for classes. The holds must be cleared before beginning the registration process.

* Students should check for registration holds on MyRed. Click into the details of the hold to identify the proper stps to manage that hold before priority registration.

TMFD is offering undergraduate classes in Summer 2026 and Summer 2027. Does this mean to complete TMFD course requirements a student must take summer classes?
  • No. While the courses offered in the summer do meet course requirements, taking courses in the summer is optional. Enrolling in summer courses could provide students with more flexibility in their course loads in future terms.
  • The courses that will be offered only in summer are TMFD 492 International Study Tour and TMFD 493 Study Tour Recitation, both in Summer 2027.
How do I apply for summer financial aid?
  • Current undergraduate students can be reviewed for summer financial aid by completing the Summer Aid Application in MyRed.
  • To learn more about how to apply for Summer Financial Aid and if existing academic scholarships as well as other funding sources are available for summer courses, visit here as well as Husker Hub.
Can a student make a change to their declared option within their TMFD major or minor?
  • Course offerings for the degree completions were determined based on current undergraduate students’ declared TMFD major option or TMFD minor. Students considering an option change within the TMFD major should consult with the Transition Coordinator and their Academic Advisor.
  • Students should meet with their Academic Advisor if they are interested in changing any aspect of their currently declared academic program.
How will a student know their timeline to graduation?
  • Students should meet with their Academic Advisor to develop a plan toward graduation.
  • It is important students enroll in the required TMFD courses when the courses are offered in conjunction with the plan developed with their Academic Advisor. If a student does not maintain enrollment as a student, not including Summer terms, it could jeopardize the student’s ability to complete the TMFD majors or TMFD minor requirements.
TMFD courses are not being offered past Spring 2028, does that mean all students will graduate by Spring of 2028?
  • All TMFD courses for TMFD majors or TMFD minors must be completed by the end of the Spring 2028 term. Depending on other degree components, some students will graduate after the Spring 2028 semester.
