2025 IMPACT REPORT

CEHS Kickoff

I came to the College of Education and Human Sciences (CEHS) for two significant reasons. First, I was excited to be part of a professional community that is clearly dedicated to improving lives across Nebraska, our nation and the world. Second is the excellent, diverse portfolio of programs and centers that has a rich history of preparing leaders in those fields.

I’m excited to share a few highlights that show our incredible impact:

• I have been inspired by the commitment of the professional staff at the Ruth Staples Child Development Laboratory as they celebrated 100 years of impact and prepare for the next 100 years.

• I have met educational leaders across the state who overwhelmingly share how well prepared our students are to lead classrooms in their schools.

• The Kit and Dick Schmoker Reading Center blends scholarship with service to the community in a way that epitomizes what our college strives to do.

• In visits with the Nebraska Center for Research on Children, Youth, Families and Schools and the Nebraska Center for the Prevention of Obesity Diseases, as well as faculty throughout the college, I have been struck by the life-changing research that is happening.

• Our training clinics not only prepare our students to be highly qualified professionals in fields such as audiology, counseling and school psychology, couple and family therapy, and speech-language pathology, but they also fill critical needs in those professions in our state.

Together, these moments reflect the strength of CEHS and the promise of what lies ahead. The stories that follow offer a closer look at the people, programs and partnerships driving our impact—and the meaningful difference we're making.

The MFT program stood out to me because the closeness of the cohorts with the faculty. It was the faculty that primarily brought me in.

Extraordinary Research and Creative Activity

CEHS is advancing extraordinary research and creative activity that delivers meaningful, measurable impact on individuals, families, schools, and communities.

We have taken what we've learned from two decades of rigorous research and successfully applied it in homes, classrooms and communities across the state.

Extraordinary Partnerships

At the College of Education and Human Sciences, partnerships extend our reach and deepen our impact.
Through collaboration with schools, community organizations, health care systems, public agencies and industry partners across Nebraska and beyond, CEHS advances learning, research and service that strengthens Nebraska.

I truly loved my time at UNL. The HRTM program was small enough to feel personal and connected, yet it also gave me access to incredible clubs, programs, and people I’ll always value. My experience not only strengthened my pride in being a Nebraskan, but also helped me grow and discover myself through both the highs and the challenges of college life.
