The following are guidelines for the development and provision of online instruction for courses taught in the Professional Studies in Dietetics Specialization:
- The educational experience of a student enrolled in an online course should be comparable to the experience they would have if the class were taught in-person. For example: course goals should be clearly communicated, a detailed syllabus must be provided, assessment of student learning should occur regularly, etc.
- Must provide timely and appropriate interaction between students and faculty comparable to a traditional classroom setting. Ideally, the opportunity for interaction happens weekly. Information for the preferred method for contacting the instructor must be readily available.
- Information must be clearly stated relative to the technological requirements to be successful in the course and related to resources for resolving technical issues experienced by the student.
- The course must ensure the integrity of student work.
