Reconsideration of an Evaluation

Students will be responsible for reviewing final course instructor or preceptor responses for each evaluation. A student may request a reconsideration of an evaluation made by an instructor or an affiliated institution’s preceptor.

The following procedures will be followed:

  1. The student will notify the program director of any dissatisfaction with an evaluation within one week after the evaluation is discussed.
  2. The program director will discuss the evaluation with the student and the student can decide if a meeting should be scheduled to discuss the evaluation with the instructor or supervising preceptor and the program director.
  3. If after the meeting the student feels a satisfactory settlement has not been reached, a written rebuttal statement can be attached to the evaluation which may also include comments from the course instructor or affiliated preceptor. All parties may review each other's comments. A summary statement of the conference discussion will then be written by the program director and signed by all parties.
  4. If no agreement is reached, the evaluation will stand as the affiliated institution’s preceptor has written it; however, all copies of rebuttals and comments will be retained in the program files.
