Tracking Student Hours in Alternate Experiences

Alternate hours for the predetermined learning activities are assigned by the program director and instructor based on estimates and prior experience. Alternate hour documentation will occur through two processes.

  1. Instructors will document the date, learning activity, and time spent on each learning activity that occurs in class.
  2. Students will document the number of hours spent completing these same learning activities outside of the classroom or SEL. Documentation will be done through Typhon, the online system students currently use to track SEL hours. At the beginning of each semester or SEL, students will be provided the estimated number of hours needed to complete the learning activity. It is expected that total time to complete each learning activity will vary by student. The estimated number of hours will be updated annually by the program director based on actual student hours needed for each learning activity in the prior cohort.
