Eric Einspahr was nominated for the Dr. Charles Riedesel Outstanding Advising Award for his phenomenal work as an academic adviser. The Dr. Charles Riedesel Outstanding Academic Advising Award recognizes an exceptional faculty or staff member who directly delivers advising services to undergraduates. Examples of outstanding advising include going beyond basic job duties and responsibilities, providing support, empowerment, coaching, counseling, and guidance to enable students to succeed academically and in life. The award is named for Dr. Charles Riedesel, Chief Undergraduate Adviser in the Computer Science and Engineering Department at the University, who devotes much of his time to recruiting and advising computer science and engineering majors.

Eric has always gone above and beyond to help students. He is very involved his role of advising for CEHS. He is also involved in various committees and work groups, as well as the campus wide advising organization. Part of his own personal philosophy of advising is "A good academic adviser should be able to help a student recognize challenges, find the support they need, and develop a strategy to meet them."
