A helping hand for education in Haiti: An appeal from Sue Sheridan

A helping hand for education in Haiti: An appeal from Sue Sheridan

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

During each of the past four holiday seasons, the Nebraska Center for Research on Children, Youth, Families and Schools has asked for your help in providing art supplies to the state's disadvantaged students. Your generosity toward this effort has continually inspired us and the communities with whom we've partnered.

Now, after returning from a recent trip to Haiti that profoundly influenced my perspective, I invite you to consider directing that generosity toward children whose educational needs exceed any I have seen. This year, we have decided to dedicate our annual holiday drive to the children and schools of La Montagne, Haiti. On their behalf, I hope you will visit our "Elevating Haitian Education" website at cyfs.unl.edu/haiti to learn more about their needs – and how we can help meet them.

If you decide to help, you will be supporting the efforts of a people working tirelessly to improve their children's future. I can think of no gift that better embodies the spirit of the holiday season.
