Miller returns as Alumni Master, sponsored by CEHS

Vernon Miller, part of the Thunder Clan from the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska, is the business teacher at Umonhon (Omaha) Nation Public Schools on the Omaha Tribal Reservation in Macy, Nebraska. Miller was named Teacher of the Year by the National Indian Education Association in 2010, was appointed chairman of the Omaha Tribal Election Commission in 2011, and was named to Indian Country's top 40 under 40 this year. He is a 2006 graduate of the College of Education and Human Sciences, which will host him during Masters Week.

Alumni Masters Week is scheduled for Nov. 7-  9. Nine outstanding alumni will be honored as "masters" during the upcoming annual Alumni Masters Week celebration.  These alumni will spend three days interacting with students and faculty, sharing how their UNL education paved the way for successful careers.

All alumni and friends are invited to join us to meet the alumni masters in person and hear their perspectives on Civic Engagement during a panel discussion.

    7:30 – 8 p.m. - Civic engagement panel
