The public is invited to hear a Padmini Balaram speak about natural dyes Friday, Dec. 6, 2013. She is visiting the University of Nebraska, College of Education and Human Sciences, Department of Textiles, Merchandising and Fashion Design as a Visiting Fulbright-Nehru  Lecturer.

Padmini Balaram is professor of Design, Silpa-sadana, Sriniketan, Visva-Bharati University, India, She will talk about her Eco-Friendly Natural Dyed Textiles and her inspirations in creating them.  She will also talk about their possible use and advantages of using them. Examples of some of her actual works will be displayed.

The lecture is free and open to the public. It coincides with the class that Balaram is teaching with Wendy Weiss, professor, TMFD: Surface Design on Textiles.
