Bieber receives Staff Star Award

"Melisia is the heart of the Schmoker Reading Center." So begins the nomination letter written for our most recent staff member to receive the Staff Star Award, Melisia Bieber.

The letter continues: "She makes sure that everything runs smoothly. Every semester she communicates with sixty UNL students, and sixty struggling readers and their families. She does it gracefully and effectively making sure everyone feels attended to, and cared for. This is not an easy task since many of the families and children carry with them a painful history of struggle and frustration. Melisia adds her smile and practical attitude to any problem that arises small or big. Melisia has also been instrumental in managing the technology at the center from iPads to our social media and even a new library software. In short Melisia is invaluable to the center and the mission of the college, caring for individuals, families and schools."
