Career coaches ready to help make students’ dream career path a reality

When the fall semester begins Aug. 17, the College of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln will have new positions in place to support students and their desired career paths. On June 1, two career coaches joined the college focused on helping CEHS students explore opportunities, gain experiences and tell their story to make their dream career path a reality.

Career coaches, Darwin Archie and Mollie Rappl, are part of the CEHS Student Services Center, which enables close communication and collaboration with academic advisors.  

“As Mollie and Darwin prepare to work with our students, a big part of their success will be connecting with the CEHS community who are already engaged in supporting our students and their career paths,” said AnnMarie Gottner, director of advising.

According to Gottner, one-to-one career coaching and targeted programming will be available to all CEHS students beginning in the fall semester. Programming will supplement CEHS degree program efforts in preparing students to engage in the local, national and global community upon graduation.

“It is a bold goal of the CEHS career coaches to lead the way across the university career community in preparing graduates to work in diverse and inclusive communities and create partnerships with industry leaders who model inclusive excellence within their organizations,” Gottner said. 

Darwin Archie joins CEHS from the Office of TRIO programs at the university, which provides services for students from disadvantaged backgrounds at the university and in the Lincoln community to progress through the academic pipeline from middle school to a baccalaureate program. Archie has also worked in parks and recreation, health promotion and served in the United States Army Reserves. He earned his bachelor’s degree in nutrition and health sciences at Nebraska and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in educational administration.

Mollie Rappl joins CEHS from University Housing and brings experience from a variety of roles in sales and insurance, property management and the State Department of Education. Rappl earned an associate’s degree from Southeast Community College, a bachelor’s degree in business from Doane University and a master’s degree in educational administration from Nebraska.
