Jacob Engel, a nutrition science major from Cozad, Nebraska, is one of 20 seniors selected as University of Nebraska-Lincoln homecoming royalty finalists.

“Having the opportunity to be on the homecoming court means a lot to me,” Engel said. “Not only is it a testament to all of the work I have put into my time here at UNL but also a representation of the small town I grew up in. I am so proud to represent all the people back home that helped shape me into who I am today, especially my parents and mentors!”

During his time on campus, Engel has been an active member of Alpha Gamma Rho, Intrafraternity Council, Union Student Advisory Board, University Program Council, Executive Vice Chancellor Student Advisory Board, ASUN Student Conduct Board, CHOICES Alcohol, and Husker Dialogue facilitator. After graduating from Nebraska, he plans to attend medical school.

The royalty winners will be elected by the student body in an online vote Oct. 2 and 3. They will be crowned Oct. 5 at halftime of the Nebraska vs. Rutgers football game, which kicks off at 3 p.m. in Memorial Stadium.
