Jessica Jonson has been named the interim director for the Buros Center for Testing, an independent, non-profit research center within the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's College of Education and Human Sciences. Her appointment as interim director is effective as of Sept. 1.
Jonson has been with the Buros Center since 2011, most recently serving as research professor and associate director for assessment literacy. She leads the development of educational programming and resources, assessment literacy contract work, and directs continuing education sponsorships. Jonson also serves as co-editor of the Center’s journal Applied Measurement in Education and as assignment editor for Mental Measurements Yearbook, which is internationally recognized as a trusted resource on tests and testing with its reviews of measures used across education, psychology, counseling, business, and related fields.
During her career, Jonson has been an editor on five books and six invited book chapters, as well as numerous journal articles and technical reports. She has also been the principal investigator or co-PI on nearly 20 funded projects. Jonson is a member of the American Psychological Association, American Educational Research Association, National Council on Measurement in Education, and International Test Commission.
Jonson arrived at the university in 1999, serving as university-wide assessment coordinator for three years before becoming the director of institutional assessment. In 2011, she started her position with the Buros Center and moved to the Department of Educational Psychology, where she has been a research professor and graduate faculty member. She earned her bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees all from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
