Kristin Malek, assistant professor and event management extension specialist in the Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences, was honored with the Bob Dallmeyer Educator of the Year Award from the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE). She accepted the award at the IAEE’s annual meeting held in Louisville, KY in December 2022.

The IAEE Bob Dallmeyer Educator of the Year Award is presented to IAEE members who possess outstanding creativity, a positive attitude and the ability to transfer knowledge through good communication skills and innovative teaching to promote life-long learning to exhibitions and events industry professionals.

“I am honored and humbled to be recognized as Educator of the Year within the meeting and event industry, especially recognizing that I am only the second full time academic to ever win this industry focused award,” Malek said. 

In addition to her full-time teaching and outreach responsibilities, Malek currently chairs the IAEE faculty advisory committee. She has also taught an educational session for IAEE around event design and strategy. Nominees noted her innovative teaching methods and that she brings excellent ideas that have shaped IAEE’s programming, in addition to advocating for quality education programs to advance the exhibitions and events industry.
