Alice Kinsler has been named interim executive director of the International Quilt Study Center and Museum. Kinsler assumes the post Aug. 5.

“It’s an incredible honor to serve as the interim executive director of the International Quilt Study Center and Museum and to help with the search for a permanent full-time executive director,” Kinsler said.

The search for a permanent director is led by Michael James, professor and chair of textiles, merchandising and fashion design.

The quilt center’s founding director, Patricia Cox Crews, will end her 16-year tenure on Saturday (Aug. 3). She is assisting Kinsler during the transition period.

Crews plans to return to full-time teaching and research in textiles, merchandising and fashion design, where she has been a faculty member since 1984.

Kinsler holds masters degrees in human relations from Golden Gate University in San Francisco and in textile history with a quilt studies emphasis from UNL.
