Portnoy helps double number of credentialed psychology supervisors in China

A program led by Bob Portnoy is on course to double the number of credentialed psychology supervisors in China within two years.

Portnoy, director of counseling and psychological services at the University Health Center, developed the project as a Fulbright scholar based at China’s Nanjing University in 2011-12.

“During my Fulbright year, I had a lot of discussions with mental health professionals and clinicians about how does the field of psychotherapy move forward in China,” Portnoy said. “I argued that what they really needed is a group of folks who are strong supervisors who can teach the next generation of therapists.”
