The purpose of the Educators of Color Summit is to reinforce that our representation matters in fostering educational relevance, empowerment, encouragement, and leadership development among student scholars and educators of Color. To ensure the landscape, culture, climate and collective efforts toward social justice reflect the ever-changing demographics of Nebraska we seek to convene educational stakeholders from across pre-K to post-secondary levels dedicated to the same cause.
Hosted by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Lincoln Public Schools, this state-wide summit is open to student scholars of diversity, pre-service teachers, in-service educators, administrators, and university faculty of diversity.
The partnership’s intent is to build on current racial justice movements and to create an authentic space to build community and solidarity. Specifically, this partnership seeks to:
- Grow our professional network of dedicated Educators of Color from across Nebraska
- Share ideas for collaboration, activism, and self-care
- Envisioning innovative and liberatory practices to meet the needs of Nebraska’s diverse student scholars
The Summit will bring together individuals from across the state through interactive presentations, workshops, and roundtables.
