Gretchen Oltman receives award for outstanding dissertation

Gretchen Oltman has received the National Association of Secondary School Principals award for outstanding dissertation related to high school.

Gretchen is a May 2009 EDUS PhD graduate advised by Don Uerling (EDAD).  

Oltman's dissertation is titled "Dealing with Student Violent Writing in the English Classroom: A Framework for Public School Administrators."

Gretchen Oltman receives award for outstanding dissertation

Industrial Technology holds annual presentation of student woodworking projects

Industrial Technology held its annual presentation of student woodworking projects May 7th, 2010.

As in the past, this year's presentation drew dozens of visitors from disciplines across UNL and the public.  

Tom Kraft, Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communication, supervises the industrial technology program, which has supported teacher education.

CEHS creates strong presence at 2010 American Educational Research Association Conference

Students and faculty members from across CEHS presented dozens of research findings and projects at the AERA conference, held this year in Denver, Colorado.

In all, 37 CEHS researchers shared their work with colleagues from around the world. The presentations showcased CEHS' diverse research programs and how these contribute to everyday educational practice.

TCD Students and Faculty Attend Annual Dallas Career Day

On April 9th, 7 TCD students attended Dallas Career Day at the World Market Center in Dallas, Texas.  They were led by Senior Lecturer Carol Easley and Assistant Professor Dr. Harriet McLeod. The annual event is hosted by The Fashion Group International and presented by Paris American Academy and Brighton.  The event featured many guest speakers and seminars. Among these was Shirin Askari from Season 6 of Project Runway , and the keynote speaker, fashion designer and Texas native Jodi Arnold.  Jodi has had great success in the fashion industry and just recently collaborated on a line with The Limited.  She shared lots of great tips with students on how to achieve success in the field.

Biennial Student Runway Show Attracts Record Number of Viewers

A record audience of over 550 was on hand at the Centennial Ballroom on Friday evening April 23 for TCD's sixth biennial runway show. Two dozen graduate and undergraduate designers showed over 120  garments during the 90 minute event. Support from TCD Merchandising and Communications majors was complemented by additional support from family and friends, including D. J. Ben Kreimer and Photographer Stan Jones. Hair and makeup styling were provided by Iasan & Sebastian Studio Salon.

TCD Faculty and Staff Receive College Awards

Dean Marjorie Kostelnik with IQSC&M Curator of Collections Carolyn Ducey

TCD was well represented in this year's annual CEHS Faculty and Staff Awards event, held on Friday April 16 at Nebraska Union. Dean Marjorie Kostelnik presented the CEHS Staff Award for meritorious service to the Curator of Collections of the International Quilt Study Center & Museum, Carolyn Ducey. Carolyn has been involved with the IQSC&M since its inception, and has worked tirelessly to grow and to exhibit the Center's collections, the largest public collection of quilts in the world. She was cited for her upbeat, positive outlook, her good humor and her commitment to developing and maintaining the highest professional standards for the IQSC&M.

Dr. Barbara Trout received the CEHS Faculty Student Mentoring Award.
