Loren Rye, large format and digital printer in the Pixel Lab, has been named the recipient of the latest Staff Star Award by the College of Education and Human Sciences Staff Council.
In his role, Rye produces quality print products on large format printers and copiers on a variety of materials for customers across campus and in the Lincoln community. He delivers print products to customer specifications, within budget and on time. Rye also works as a photographer, capturing headshots for faculty, staff, and students, and documenting many special projects and events across campus. He recently built a new photo archive for the college, making his work easily accessible to faculty and staff.
“Loren always meets deadlines and does an excellent job at communicating about projects to ensure that they are completed to our satisfaction,” said one nominator.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Rye had to quickly adapt in his position to support the campus and community in new ways. Many customers turned to the Pixel Lab to rapidly develop and print social distancing messages and other pandemic-related safety signage. Rye worked under extremely tight deadlines to meet the demand, while also finding new, more cost-effective materials that resulted in increased customer satisfaction.
“He brings a positive attitude and optimistic outlook to any situation, regardless of his current stressors,” said one of his nominators. “He frequently interacts with people within the college, across campus and in the community, and those who have worked with him know of his personable and helpful nature. Loren is a wonderful asset to his team, CEHS and the university.”
