NAECR Knowledge event highlights AI’s potential in early childhood research

How can early childhood researchers incorporate artificial intelligence into their work? 

Early childhood researchers discussed strategies, tools and best practices for incorporating AI into their work during the spring NAECR Knowledge event March 13.  

Mel Sedlacek, office associate with the Department of Child, Youth and Family Studies, and IDEA campus coordinator, led the virtual presentation for 21 attendees representing all four University of Nebraska campuses and the Buffett Early Childhood Institute

Sedlacek demonstrated various AI tools, sharing examples of how each can be used by researchers. She also detailed how to write effective AI prompts and answered questions.  

Attendees then shared ways that they are using AI in their work.

NAECR Networking and NAECR Knowledge are an ongoing series of networking and training events designed to enhance early childhood research across the NU system. 

The series will resume April 15 with the spring NAECR Networking event, when early childhood researchers from across the University of Nebraska system will share their latest research and findings on social-emotional development.
