New podcasts and workshops offered by ICMEE

06 Dec 2017

The International Consortium for Multilingual Excellence in Education (ICMEE) has created its initial podcasts that provide insights into teaching, learning and bilingualism for K-12 educators working with bi/multilingual learners. The podcasts are available on iTunes at https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/hablamos-conversations-on-teaching-learning-bilingualism/id1294743562?mt=2.

The most recent podcast features Kara Viesca, assistant professor of Teaching, Learning and Teacher Education, and is hosted by Araceli Lobato Darias, research assistant. Viesca is also the principal investigator of the $2.7 million ICMEE grant that is funded through the U.S. Department of Education, Office of English Language Acquisition's National Professional Development Award Program (Award Number #T365Z160351).

ICMEE is also offering free e-workshops this spring for educators interested in improving their teaching skills in bi/multilingual education. The first 20 to register may qualify for a $200 stipend for completing the workshops and surveys. The series of six workshops are all online. Participants will work in groups of 5-6 and will have two weeks to finish each unit. Professional development credit and college credit are available.
