Two CEHS graduates accept Fulbright awards

Two students who graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s College of Education and Human Sciences on May 18 were among the six Husker students who accepted Fulbright U.S. Student program awards for the 2024-25 academic year. 

Thursey Cook, a secondary education: English graduate from Ceresco, Nebraska, and Hayden Ullmann, a secondary education: French and Spanish graduate from Fort Worth, Texas, were both selected for English Teaching Assistant placements in Germany. 

In addition, Harmon Perez, a secondary education: Spanish graduate from Henderson, Nebraska, was selected as an alternate for an English Teaching Assistant placement in Spain. Carlos Ortega, a secondary education: social science graduate from Lincoln, and Cristina Villa-Huerta, a secondary education: English language arts graduate from Lincoln, were both semifinalists for English Teaching Assistant placements in Spain. 

The Fulbright program, the U.S. government’s flagship international educational exchange program, is supported by an annual appropriation made by Congress to the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, as well as partner countries around the world. Fulbright recipients are selected based on academic or professional achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership potential in their fields.
